Pets and spooky celebrations can make a great pair, but be sure that you are following our halloween safety tips for maximum fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Halloween Safety for Pets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Potentially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akcreunite.org\/halloween-toxins\/\">hazardous treats<\/a>, crowds, decor, and costumes can all pose a danger to your pets. There is no reason that they can\u2019t join in the fun, though, if you remember our best pet safety tips for Halloween:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep chocolate and other treats in a safe location to prevent accidental ingestion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trash should be in a secure receptacle, ideally behind a door for protection from the more crafty critters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid sharing candy with your pet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be sure that your pet has a safe place (like a crate) to retreat to if Halloween parties and trick or treaters aren\u2019t their jam<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make your pet visible in the dark with reflective tape or lights<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be sure that identification such as collar tags and microchip registration is current<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take time to be sure that wearing a costume doesn\u2019t stress your pet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be sure any pet costume does not restrict motion or visibility for your pet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never leave a pet in a costume unattended<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Secure wires and electrical cords safely from curious pets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t force a pet who is anxious to partake in Halloween festivities\u2014in this situation party-poopers are okay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put your pet up for trick or treaters so that there is no chance of escape or nipping a spooky stranger who approaches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pets and Halloween Fun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are plenty of ways to safely share the fun with your pet this Halloween.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Pumpkin seeds <\/em><\/strong><strong>\u2014 <\/strong>If you are roasting up a batch of pumpkin seeds after carving jack-o-lanterns this holiday, pets can absolutely enjoy them with you in limited quantities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Pumpkin biscuits <\/em><\/strong><strong>\u2014<\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>Many recipes for homemade dog treats use pumpkin as a main ingredient. Whip up a batch for your pooch using a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mybakingaddiction.com\/homemade-dog-treats\/\"> recipe<\/a> for pumpkin dog biscuits. Don\u2019t forget <a href=\"https:\/\/unboundwellness.com\/healthy-homemade-pumpkin-cat-treats\/\">cats might enjoy a treat<\/a>, too. Make any pet treat recipe festive with holiday-shaped cookie cutters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Cooked pumpkin <\/em><\/strong><strong>\u2014<\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>A tablespoon or two of canned or cooked pumpkin without added spices can make a tasty treat for both dogs and cats.
